Roxby Community Garden

A vibrant Garden of Sanctuary in the heart of Lincoln Green - a place where you're invited to grow, learn, meet and play.

Together with the local community, we’ve transformed a once-disused playground into an open, inviting green space with seating, planting, and space to grow food, join workshops, meet friends, share picnics and enjoy the garden.

Who is the garden for?

Whether you’ve lived here all your life or are new to the area, you’re invited to enjoy and shape this space alongside others. Everyone is welcome.

Roxby Community Garden is open to all, with a wheelchair-accessible entrance via a step-free ramp.

How can you use the garden?

We run our weekly Lincoln Greeners gardening group here, and hold seasonal community celebrations in the space (subscribe to our newsletter to hear about these first).

Outside of that, the garden is yours to use however you like. It could be a picnic, a birthday party, a football game, a dance session, or simply a moment of calm.

There’s no need to book or ask. The garden belongs to the people of Lincoln Green and we’d love to see more of you making it your own.

If you’re planning a public event or workshop and would like some support, get in touch.

Why Was the Garden Created?

The garden was once a disused playground. Now it’s a vibrant Garden of Sanctuary, transformed through collaboration between Mafwa Theatre, local residents, and Leeds City Council.

It was created to bring more green space to the neighbourhood and to offer a place where people can grow food, build friendships, celebrate culture, and connect with nature and each other.

Developed in partnership with Leeds City Council, with support from Veolia Environmental Trust, Horticon, Leeds 2023 and Arts Council North
